Promoting Access to Therapy and Healing
The Promoting Access to Therapy and Healing (PATH) Program was developed to support newcomer, refugee, and immigrant youth in strengthening their mental wellbeing. The program aims to improve their resilience, coping skills, leadership abilities, and social connections by providing a culturally sensitive and safe space. Through a series of interactive and trauma-informed group sessions, youth are provided with practical tools and strategies to support their emotional well-being while building a sense of belonging, confidence, and community.
PATH recognizes that many newcomer youth face unique challenges related to migration, settlement, and identity development. Other prominent challenges that will be addressed include family conflict, language barriers, discrimination, trauma, and social isolation. At the same time, however, newcomer youth possess tremendous strengths that will be highlighted and encouraged throughout the program sessions. They are incredibly resilient, culturally aware, and have immense leadership potential. This program seeks to build upon those strengths while providing meaningful opportunities for learning, connection, healing, and growth.
